| How did I come to create *Fantasy Witez II+?
It started back in 1961 when I first "discovered" the
Arabian horse.
Then in 1963, I saw photos of *Witez II and read articles about him. He
really captured my attention; out of all those beautiful Arabians, he
just
stole my heart. In December of 1964, I made a trip to Saugus to visit
Earle
and Frances Hurlbutt, and to see *Witez II in person, of course!
He was my dream of what an Arabian stallion should be
- he was kind
and gentle, yet alert and attentive even at that advanced age, and he
just
loved all the attention we gave him. (And we gave him plenty!) I had
planned
on making another trip to see him in June of 1965, but alas ... the
magnificent
*Witez II left this earth for greener pastures before I could see him
again.
I visited Earle and Frances on numerous occasions after that, and I
always
looked toward his old corral and remembered ...

I had started collecting model horses in the early 1970's, and began
showing them 1973. When Breyer came out with the *Witez II mold, I
decided
that it didn't look enough like *Witez II. (Well, it didn't!) So I took
the original finish mold, added shading to head and body, added
tri-colored
eyes and "hair" mane and tail, and added markings that I painstakingly
duplicated from photos of *Witez II. Since my "stable" name was Fantasy
Arabians (1973-1986), voila! *Fantasy Witez II was born!
I wrote to Earle and Frances, requesting written permission
to show this model horse as *Fantasy Witez II, and was given express
permission
to show him as a representative of the great "old man"; he is the only
model horse who ever got that permission. I had included a photo of the
finished model, and Frances wrote back and told me, "He is the image of
*Witez II!"
He was (and is) my pride and joy. He was shown
consistently for well
over a decade, which is saying a lot for any horse, let alone a model
horse!
He has been shown in numerous shows, and has earned numerous
Championships/Reserves,
Grand Championships/Reserves, and even Regional and National
Championships
and Reserves. Oh, yes, we did have our own Regionals and Nationals for
our model Arabians. One of his many accomplishments was to earn
Legion
of Merit, among other special titles.
I was forced to sell my beloved *Fantasy Witez II+ in
1987, but I
should have kept him and gotten rid of the ex at that time. In 1988, my
then-hubby and I began breeding real Arabians (my dream of 27 years).
Although
I had owned one *Witez II daughter, Wisana (x Nisana) in the early
1970's,
I could never get her in foal, and had to sell her back.
We named our real Arabian ranch KEDARI ARABIANS (for
our daughter
KElly, my daughter DAwn, and my son RIck). The 6 years I bred Arabians
(1988-1994), I owned Al-Sha Toni, grey mare, who traced to *Witez II in
the 5th generation, through Cartez; TS Saskia, bay mare, who traced to
*Witez II in the 5th generation, through Bass Hisan; and Khemal's
Kharisma,
black stallion (mostly Egyptian) who traced to *Witez II in the 6th
generation,
through Witezan. My dream ended in 1994, with divorce, but I will
always
have the loving memories of my real Arabians.
I would like to take this chance to publicly say
thank you to Anna
Freeman for allowing me the chance to buy back *Fantasy Witez II+ and
bring
him home. My life has been empty without him, and I can't wait to have
him back home with me! I have owned well over 400 model horses in the
years
that I collected and showed, but I have never loved one of them as I do
*Fantasy Witez II+, my beautiful and majestic "Prince of Poland".
THANK YOU, ANNA, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! Believe
me, I do know
how hard it was for you to let him go, and I will never be able to
thank
you enough ...
I am now collecting and showing model horses again,
under the "stable"
name KEDARI
ARABIANS, where *Fantasy Witez II+ will again reign as undisputed
King.
